The House... The Embassy... The ?...

Hello all,

I have re-located to Ambridge, PA. Ambridge is an old steel town about 30 minutes north-west of Pittsburgh, and about 20 minutes west of Outpost 1. My house is about a 5 minute walk south of Outpost 1's old Ambridge location.

I've come to have a deep appreciation for good names. Outpost 1 is a good name. I don't have a name for my new place. Currently, there are four residents, myself, and three friends: Silas, Dez, and Jesse. The goal for the house is to use it as a boarding-house / hangout space for local college and seminary students. Ideally, it will be a hotspot for Bible studies, discussion groups, and for meetings related to various creative projects.

The living room is a place to slow down and focus on good conversation. There is no TV in the room, the only amenity it boasts is a record player and an assortment of books and other printed media. We're still in the move-in phase, so there are a number of cardboard boxes and a variety of un-shelved items that add generously to an overall aesthetic of 'modest clutter'.

A bedroom upstairs has been converted into an office/recording studio space. A bass guitar, baritone guitar, and acoustic guitar line one side of the room in formation, ready for action. Dez or I are usually using the space for music or video work. Silas has the finished attic (the largest single room in the house) all to himself, and he has parsed it into essentially three spaces. An office, a living room, and his bedroom. It feels quite spacious, and is quite nice!

The House (for lack of a better name) is the latest development on my end. There are a few luxuries that I've had to invest in (washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner, and dishes/cutlery), but now that those are mostly out of the way, I will be turning my attention to some of the basic necessities such as good art for the walls. The only real piece of art I have in the place right now is above the fireplace in the living room. I've attached a photo of the living room and art to this post.

Onward!

Thanks for sharing Thomas! Great to hear from one of the Barry's that are out on their own:) I love the house! You have done a great job making it seem very home like. I bet people will really enjoy being there!
