OP1 news

Tests were being given to tenth graders Monday through Thursday this week. We had the option to come to school two hours later (9:30am) if our parents could drive us there. Those who took the bus to school and were not participating in testing would be directed to the auditorium to sit quietly for 2+ hours. The auditorium is big and usually quite crowded, the lighting is dim, and the room is silent. Yes. The room is to be quiet. No talking. Whispering is attempted, but is often interrupted by a voice somewhere ordering silence.
I am am so thankful that I did not have to endure this for long. There is something peculiar about a loud quietness in a room full of teenagers.
On Monday, mommy drove me to school. Anna and Frank went to the bus stop at about 8:00. Mommy and I went to our church once the littles were off. Mom works there and had some quick things to do in her office. My dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Dorothy White have an office next to mommy's, as of recently. I visited with them for a while until it was time to go. It was so good to see them and talk with them on Monday morning.
Here is a picture that mommy took of the three of us. Thank you mommy!

On Tuesday I did not go to school. Daniel and I had an appointed scheduled to get our vaccinations for going to Uganda. The appointment was not Tuesday. Daddy came home from work Tuesday early afternoon and gave us a thirty minutes warning before we would be leaving to go out to lunch first, and then eventually to the doctor for the scheduled appointment at 3:00. Daddy checked his email before we left, and there in his inbox sat a reminder that Daniel and I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday at 3:00. Daddy had to go back to work so that he could take Wednesday off. I got a lot of reading done, made cookies, and Thomas, Daniel and I went out to a restaurant for lunch. Tuesday was a day of much needed rest for me.

On Wednesday, Daniel daddy and I went out to lunch together. By 3:00 we were at our scheduled appointment.  I received two vaccinations, yellow fever and typhoid. Typhoid came also in pill form, however it is an alive version. My friend Emily, who is going to Zimbabwe, was ill for a week at school after taking the swalowable typhoid. Daniel and I both chose the shot. Neither of us desired the opportunity to become ill like Emily had.
Daniel received four immunizations. Yelow fever, typhoid, tetanus and I think polio.
The vaccinations went really well. The lady was a pro.  And she had a great Boston accent!

The Boston, MA nurse's recommendation: ice cream

I just finished reading Kisses From Katie. If you have not read this book I highly recommend that you do.

OP1 had some delicious messy meat (ribs) for supper.

Strawberries are almost ripe. I counted at least a hundred green ones the other day and many more blossoms. I have started to grow some old Pumpkin and watermelon seeds. We will see if we actually get something to harvest...

Our playground was mended the other day with a new blue tarpoleon roof.

Daniel daddy and I went to a Trinity graduation today.  My friends Robina and Juliette graduated. It was a beautiful church that it was held in. The stained glass windows were breathtaking.
I met these two sweet little girls at the graduation reception. A four year old and a seven year old. They were sitting about eating together and then galavanting  about playing together. A little while before I left, they told their mom "you must meet our friend we met! We know her!". Through the crowd they found me and they introduced me to their mom. Pictured below, mom is on far right.

Mommy recently brought home goldfish, and we now have a tank full of fish.

This is an old picture that my friend recently sent me. This is my dear friend Gretchen. She came over a long time ago, before Christmas I think, and we made donuts.
