This week (January 22-24) I went on tour with the Hayes String Ensemble. We performed and spoke at three schools in South Carolina--one each day. Today we went to Bob Jones University and got to spend some time looking at an old Bible collection on the campus. The school also has a huge religious museum, but, sadly, it was closed for renovations. However, we did get to see a neat display on Luther and the Reformation, as well as this lovely stain glass. It was encouraging to meet students and faculty who clearly love the Lord and are seeking to glorify Him in their music making. Sometimes I forget those people exist!
We spent some time in downtown Greenville at a place called Falls Park. I have never eaten out so much in my life in the span of only three days. I believe it will tide me over for a while. It was a beautiful, sunny day (hence the shadow picture).
Our group. I have been so blessed to be able to make music with these wonderful people, and our second semester as an ensemble is just beginning! We get along really well, thankfully, since we spend ten hours a week together. Yet I couldn't pick more gracious, fun and hard-working musicians to spend that time with.
