From Shepherd (a while ago)
An Un-Poem
Whenever you hear, "Don't you pester!"
Don't you think of Esther?
Whenever you say, "Not too shabby,"
Don't you think of Abby?
Whenever you hear, "We'll be seein'
you later," don't you think of Ian?
And whenever you say, "I drew,"
Don't you think of Andrew?
Whenever you hear, "Bandanna,"
Don't you think of cousin Anna?
And when you say clearly, "Family,"
Don't you then think of Emily?
If you rhyme to 'mowing the lawn',
Don't you eventually think of John?
And if you ever rhymed 'cocker-spaniel',
My word, if you don't think of Daniel!
Whenever you hear, "Big Eater,"
Don't you automatically think of Peter?
Whenever you say, "Fun games,"
Don't you sometimes think of James?
Whenever you hear, "Cut the cake,"
Don't you sometimes think of Kate?
Whether or not these sound silly to you,
I think I've had them all. No- it's true.
And there's more... For instance, "Lastin'
Awhile,"- don't you think of Mastin?
Whenever you hear the word Juicy,
Don't you sometimes think of Lucy?
Whenever you say the phrase, "Peace out,"
Aren't you leaving Charis out?
Whenever you hear the old, "Saved,"
Don't you just think of David?
And whenever you say, "Savannah
(The desert)," don't you think of Hannah?
I hope this does not bore you;
I hope I have been clear.
But by virtue I implore you
Just a few more lines to hear.
Whenever you hear, "We're in Vilas,"
Don't you automatically think of Silas?
Whenever you say, "We're at the bank,"
Don't you occasionally think of Frank?
Whenever you hear, "Alright, gather in!"
Don't you sometimes think of Aunt Catherine?
Whenever you say, "Oh, don't bother,"
Don't you sometimes recall Grandfather?
And whenever you hear, "Get the dolly,"
Don't you sometimes think of Aunt Molly?
I hope this has not been boring.
For, you see, there's more to tell...
But in awhile we should be snoring,
And perhaps that is as well.
I'll say Goodnight now clearly;
For there's life to be lived just ahead...
O I love my relations dearly...
But- eh, I also love m' bed!
