So this is "training week" for RMH. And we actually do a substantial amount of training, but we also get a whole day designated for "goofing off." That was yesterday.
We met around 0700 in Hemingway for breakfast, and then went down to Noah's Whitewater Rafting Co. and did a "ducky trip" for the morning. Basically we rode some fun stretches of river in inflatable kayaks all morning. I only flipped once. After that we ate our famous RMH sack lunches on the grass and dried off in the sun, got ice cream, and after lunch we hit the new "Adventure Park." It's kind of like a glorified high ropes course, but actually not as difficult as the one we have--more pieces, but easier. We had a smashing time on that for a couple hours and got properly tired out, and then drove back to camp and crashed for a couple hours. Then we went to supper. After supper we collected some gear, and hit the road around 1930 to do a night peak of Mt. Princeton. We began hiking around a quarter of nine, after driving up as far as we could on an increasingly sketch trail (drop offs on one side, washed out places, tons of rocks, etc.). We peaked around 0130, ate the pb&j's we had packed for just that occasion, got pretty cold, and then hiked down. We reached the vehicles around 0530, as the sky was getting light. We got back to camp around 0600, crashed for a couple of hours, and went to breakfast at 0830. Then some folks went back to bed, but a couple of us (including me) rushed off to set up and run the high ropes course for the teens. Then lunch, and now chill time, using the internet at a cafe in BV... I thought about sleeping all afternoon, but figured I'll just go to bed early-ish tonight.
Yes, it's been great. A loaded day and a half, certainly. I've said I'm committed to being lazy all of today (after high ropes it's my day off), but several of us have been pestering to get a big game of ultimate going, and I'll probably end up playing with them in just a little bit... and then going to the game night at the Rizzo's later, because they're saying farewell to the cornerstone staff--which includes Peter.
Okay... I sense that we'll be leaving the location of internet within a few minutes, so I'm going to close with that. I hope all you folks at home (and elsewhere) are doing well.
